Technical Engineering Tech

Location: Midland, TX (candidates outside the area will be considered with the expectation of being onsite during the work week)

Pay Rate: $50/hr.


Schedule: 5/2 M-F

  • 1 Night Shift role (Will transition to nights with schedule changes)
  • 2 Day Shift roles (5/2 schedule)

Key Functions:

  • Support daily production operations and system performance monitoring.
  • Assist in the design, maintenance, and optimization of pumping and process systems.
  • Perform technical troubleshooting and corrective actions on mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
  • Ensure safe, compliant, and efficient execution of field and plant activities

Tasks & Responsibilities:

Operations & Production Support

  • Monitor and maintain stable production from wells and processing systems
  • Track and report production data, including daily production reports and performance metrics
  • Assist in managing oil, gas, and water injection systems
  • Support control room operations and field coordination

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Troubleshoot pumps, compressors, HVAC systems, and instrumentation
  • Assist with installation, calibration, and repair of control valves and measurement devices
  • Conduct inspections, pressure tests, and leak detection

Process & Systems Optimization

  • Support process control activities, including monitoring system variables and making adjustments
  • Assist in pumping system design modifications and improvements
  • Utilize simulation tools and data analysis to improve system efficiency
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Field & Technical Support

  • Monitor well performance (surface and downhole conditions)
  • Conduct sampling and analysis (e.g., water cut/BSW)
  • Assist with pipeline, flow measurement, and cathodic protection systems
  • Support equipment installation, wiring, and configuration (including PLCs/VFDs)

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow and enforce safety procedures, including work permits and hazard assessments
  • Support supervision of field work (hot work, cold work, confined space, etc.)
  • Participate in safety meetings and audits

Required Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Technical degree or certification in Engineering Technology, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • 3+ years of experience in oil & gas, manufacturing, or industrial operations preferred

Technical Skills

  • Experience with pumping systems (progressive cavity, ESPs, compressors, etc.)
  • Knowledge of instrumentation, control systems, and electrical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and P&IDs
  • Familiarity with maintenance practices and troubleshooting techniques
  • Experience with process monitoring and data analysis

Additional Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer systems
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with process simulation tools (e.g., PIPESIM or similar)
  • Background in water treatment systems and production optimization
  • HVAC or refrigeration system experience
  • Knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, and automation systems
