Flowback Operator
Location: South Texas
Pay Rate: $30-40/hr. depending on experience and basin
A Flowback Operator is responsible for managing and monitoring the recovery of fluids and gas from oil and gas wells after hydraulic fracturing. This role ensures safe, efficient well cleanup and production testing while maintaining compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and monitor flowback equipment including separators, sand traps, manifolds, and tanks
- Control and adjust choke manifolds to regulate well flow rates and pressures
- Monitor well performance, pressures, and fluid returns during flowback operations
- Record and report production data, volumes, pressures, and any irregularities
- Conduct well testing and assist in evaluating well productivity
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on flowback equipment
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and communicate with supervisors and engineers
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of produced fluids and sand
- Follow all company, OSHA, and environmental safety standards
- Participate in rig-up and rig-down operations
- Maintain a clean and safe worksite
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED (technical training preferred)
- 1–3+ years of oilfield experience (flowback or well testing preferred)
- Strong understanding of pressure control and production equipment
- Ability to read gauges, charts, and technical data
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of safety procedures and hazard recognition
- Ability to work long hours, including nights and rotational schedules
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 50–75 lbs regularly
- Work in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain)
- Stand, walk, and climb for extended periods
- Work in potentially hazardous environments with proper PPE
Work Environment:
- Primarily field-based at well sites (onshore)
- Rotational schedules
- Exposure to high-pressure systems, chemicals, and heavy equipment
