Scott Verrett Named President of Upstream International LLC

January 15, 2021, Sugar Land, TX – As Upstream International moves into its 16th year of operation, the company named oil and gas industry veteran Scott Verrett as president. He had previously served as the company’s general manager since 2018. Scott succeeds founder and owner Bob Verrett.

“It’s a rare and remarkable day when you find the perfect person to whom you can confidently turn over the reins of a company you have nurtured,” noted the elder Verrett. “Scott possesses the business acumen and depth of knowledge gathered by more than 27 years in the oilfield to expand upon my vision for Upstream International.”

According to Cornell University’s SC Johnson College of Business, about 40% of U.S. family-owned businesses turn into second generation businesses. * This promotion marks Upstream’s entry into this exclusive club.

“Upstream International is a business built upon integrity, long-term relationships and adding value for both our corporate partners and our consultants,” noted the younger Verrett. “Gathering the depth of experience necessary to be able to lead Upstream was an important personal goal. Fortunately, I’ve also been able to witness my father’s personal philosophy since birth to carry on his legacy.”

After studying at Texas A&M University, Scott’s professional career started at MI (later known as MISwaco and even later became part of Schlumberger) as a mud engineer stationed in Thailand.  Afterward, his list of assignments grew to include China, Ecuador, Nigeria, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei, in a variety of roles with escalating responsibility.

While working as a mud engineer, he gathered vital hands-on experience with rigs, land rigs, swamp barges, jack-ups, semisubmersibles, and drill ships while using all manner of drilling fluids from Low Solids Non-Dispersed to Lime to High Performance Water-Based Muds to Oil- and Synthetic-Based Muds.

After paying his dues in the field, Scott went on to work in varying capacities with MISwaco – concluding his overseas assignments as the Country Manager of Malaysia and Brunei. He returned to the US to work in the Gulf of Mexico and then for US Land as the Manager for South Texas and the Southeast. In 2018, Scott joined the Upstream International team.

“As the Upstream team looks toward the future, we will work to uphold our corporate promise – ‘We’ve been there. We’ll be here,’” Scott summarizes.
